Papers, papers, papers

Let's compare and contrast: regular words vs. graduate school lexicon:

"This description seems very specific, yet gives us little actual detail, like all the other numerous mentions of her beauty in the novel."

Or in graduate school speak: "This description has the trappings of specificity without actually achieving it."

It's crunch time for the semester - wrapping up my opera and literature paper now on Manon Lescaut (one 18th century French novel, two 19th century operas). Then onwards to further literary lands!
